Dalma Joó Counselling Psychologist Coach

“Getting to know ourselves is the greatest journey, the most frightening discovery, the most enlightening encounter.” – Sándor Márai

Introduction

Counseling psychologist, coach

I have always been deeply interested in the human psyche and the connections between thoughts, emotions, and actions. My goal is to support my clients in leading happier and more fulfilling lives by building an honest and accepting therapeutic relationship—one in which they feel safe, and together we can face the challenges posed by life or the mind.

I believe there is a way forward in every situation—sometimes we just need to find it. My professional stance is solution-focused: I believe that people can change how they think and live, and that the freedom to choose one’s perspective is always available. Each person is the expert of their own life; my role is to support them in discovering the best version of themselves. Together we search for answers in the maze of self-exploration.

The goal of counseling is not only to ease difficulties but to move toward a more authentic, meaningful life. As a psychologist, I support my clients in gaining insight into their internal processes and discovering their own resources. I am especially drawn to life transitions in which identity formation, self-definition, and self-protection become central. Redefining ourselves is often a creative process—where the creator and the creation are one and the same. I value honest feedback, humor, and empathetic confrontation. I work from a systemic perspective, which means that even in individual sessions, I often explore clients’ relational roles and dynamics—since self-understanding often becomes deeper when seen in the mirror of others.

Since 2022, I have been providing individual psychological counseling in Hungarian and English at the Tavaszi Szél Psychological Clinic in Zugló, District 14 of Budapest. At the Tavaszi Szél Sashalom Psychological Center, I also offer couple and family therapy in a co-therapy format.

Psychological Counselling

I provide support for psychologically healthy adults in overcoming difficulties. Unlike clinical psychology, psychological counselling does not treat mental disorders but focuses on everyday people’s crises and personal blocks. Most of us go through periods in life when we need an outside perspective, a supportive space, and a connection that centers around us. Just like physical and mental health, maintaining emotional well-being is crucial. Life can present us with challenges that leave us feeling helpless — relationship issues, workplace conflicts, difficult decisions, or loss. Investing in self-awareness strengthens us, builds confidence, and equips us to face daily challenges more effectively. Counselling focuses not only on overcoming obstacles but also on mobilizing personal resources—strengths, opportunities, abilities, and supportive relationships.

Coaching

Personal development and self-reflection require great courage and hard work — but it's a lifelong investment. Coaching is a methodology and toolset that supports healthy adults in clarifying and achieving personal or professional goals. The coach acts like a trainer, facilitating progress and maintaining focus. Coaching can help in decision-making, overcoming obstacles, or advancing a personal project. However, it's the client who does the hard work and owns the success. Clients usually seek coaching not because of suffering but because they want to enhance their fundamentally stable lives, become more successful, or find direction in a specific area. The key motivation is the desire for growth. A coach can support clients in decision-making and overcoming obstacles through a focused, intensive process that incorporates a range of tools and techniques to facilitate structured reflection and action.

Couples and Family Therapy

Family therapy addresses issues on a systemic level by exploring family communication, roles, and lifestyle. The aim isn’t just to treat surface symptoms (like arguments), but to understand and reshape underlying processes, emotions, and relationships. In a moderated, safe space, family dynamics can be reimagined, allowing new perspectives to emerge. A stable couple relationship is the foundation of a well-functioning family, offering children safety and guidance. That’s why couples therapy can be useful even before making commitments or having children. When children face difficulties, it’s worth reflecting on parenting roles, family routines, and emotional stability at home. Today, every family is unique — with diverse family structures, numbers of children, single or blended families, cultural backgrounds, and individual stories. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

A Therapy supports families in finding a balanced, functional structure suited to their specific context, rather than following a single normative model. Please note: Couples and family therapy is conducted with two therapists and requires prior phone consultation to coordinate scheduling and location így a bejelentkezés előzetes telefonos egyeztetést igényel.

Klienseim tapasztalatai

"Dalma nagyon sokat segített a fejlődésemen ,kijelenthetem, hogy nem csalt a megérzésem! Elsőre is szimpatikus volt, de az óráink során méginkább az lett. Helyreállt az önértékelésem, a páromhoz való hozzáállásom ,és segített a régi traumák feldolgozásában. Csupa csupa hála Neki!"
